Happy New Year! We are now at the beginning of February. Last month, we were all so pumped about starting anew, and planning new goals. Some of us are still on that high. However, others are already beginning to become discouraged and unmotivated. We are only in the beginning. Do not quit. Trust the process! Set your goals, and do not veer off course.
Discipline will pay off!
I understand that it is easy to get discouraged, especially if things are not going as planned. However, set your goals and do not veer off course. This consistency will help you to get to your highest heights throughout life. When I am feeling discouraged and overwhelmed, I visit the following Instagram pages to get a dose of motivation: @Chamarlatanja @Fiercecatherine. These women will make you feel like you are not doing enough for sure. However, believe me when I say that their consistency with their brand will encourage you to continue doing whatever it is that you are doing. More importantly, their content will persuade you that as long as you remain consistent, you will win.
Be honest with yourself!
Be able to identify your deficiencies, especially if they are preventing you from moving towards your goal. Then, be proactive. Invest in yourself and do the work. Hire a career coach, a marketing/branding expert, therapist, or any professional that can help to improve the deficiency. Sometime last year, I felt lost as far as where to go next with my career. I knew I wanted to do more, but did not know where to start. I checked out @jobbingwithjas who has worked with me on various activities such as resume writing and interview coaching. After speaking with Jasmin, your vision will be clearer regarding your next path. Last, believe in yourself. Do not be afraid to go for what you want. Being 100% qualified for an opportunity is becoming a myth more and more each day. The key is being able to sell yourself. Once you master these things, you will start to see a change.
Praise yourself for small wins!
This is often something I struggle with as well. Every time you get one step further to your goal, celebrate. Failure to do so can lead to disappointment. Be mindful that the celebration should be realistic. Praising yourself could be treating yourself to a night out, treating yourself to the spa, taking a day off from working. Make sure your celebrations fit your lifestyle. The goal is to celebrate, not make bad decisions. Track small wins. Reward yourself. Repeat.
